There are lots of benefits to having more trees and plants growing in our local area. They not only improve the natural environment, but also act as a carbon sink, have a greenhouse effect, beautify our surroundings and provide shelter for animals and critters.

Council’s Bushcare team, in collaboration with NTH SYD, is giving away hundreds of free native plants* in Brett Whiteley Place on Thursday 21 September, from 12pm to 1.30pm. One plant only per person.

Once you’ve got your freebie, you can take in some greenery of another kind by checking out the art installation on display until 15 October. The North Sydney Anarchists have yarn-stormed the white poles with native flora and a waterfall. They’re raising awareness about the lack of green space in urban and suburban areas.

*Please note we will only be able to give one plant per person while supplies last. Get in quick!
